Vineyards

Umbria is a relatively undiscovered jewel in the heart of Italy. However, when it comes to wine, Umbria will not disappoint even the most discerning wine-lover. Umbria is home to several native grapes including Sagrantino, Sangiovese, Colorino, Trebbiano, Montepulciano and others. The local soil is rich in minerals which gives the wines a clean, crisp finish. At Antognolla Resort and Residences, guests can discover each step of the wine making process, before settling in to try out a glass for themselves while watching the sun set over the vineyards.

Food

Italy is world-renowned for its cuisine and Umbria is no exception to the rule. Umbrian cuisine combines the best of the Italian staples from pasta to spices to truffles to golden olive oil. Predominantly originating from its Etruscan roots, Umbrian cuisine is rustic and built around simple ingredients and traditional recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation. The region is known as 'the gold coast of olive oil' with multiple types of olive trees littering Umbria's rolling hills. The area boasts an abundance of truffles and spices, while the Umbrian town of Norcia is famous for its cured meats, in particular, salami, prosciutto and Budellacci – a delicacy made of pork, fennel and salt. And for those with a sweet tooth, a trip to Perugina, Umbria's chocolate mecca, is well worth the visit.
