Antognolla Resort, the study: over one billion euro of added value in ten years, 461 million in Umbria
In ten years, Antognolla Resort's initial investment of 173 million euros will generate an added value of 1.155 billion, of which 461 million in Umbria alone. Important numbers, estimated by the report "Impact Assessment of the Six Senses Antognolla Resort", produced with the technical support of PwC Italy.
Breaking down the data, we find that, in the resort construction phase alone, every million euro of investment generates 1.3 million in added value: 173 million to 196 million. Of this, 68 million will constitute direct added value, 82 million indirect added value and 46 million induced values. Over the next three years - the completion date is estimated at 2026 -, 3,106 jobs will also be created: 1,477 direct, 1,084 indirect and 545 induced.
"We are very proud to be able to present the project's impact study on the territory, which was carried out with the valuable collaboration of an internationally recognised partner such as PwC." - Commented Andrey Yakunin, Chairman of the Board of Antognolla. "This analysis concretely shows the benefits that Italy, but especially the territory of Perugia and Umbria, will obtain thanks to the project. With Antognolla Resort, we intend not only to create jobs and generate added value on an economic level, but also to make Umbria an attractive centre for visitors from all over the world and a reference point for luxury travellers”.
The impact that the Resort will have on the local economy of Perugia and Umbria is also significant: in order to preserve the Castle, the crypt, and all the historical buildings included in the estate, Antognolla intends to involve mainly local workers and suppliers, who can boast an in-depth knowledge of the most suitable materials and techniques for working on 12th-century buildings. Of the 143-million-euro investment planned for the construction and building phase of the Resort (the 173 million already mentioned from which VAT has been subtracted), 55 million are in fact destined for operators active in Perugia or Umbria and it is estimated that they will produce 25 million euro of added value and 526 direct jobs.
In perspective, the annual local tourism expenditure stimulated by the opening of the Resort is expected to amount to 114 million euro: to the 41 million euro average annual revenue of Antognolla Resort would be added 73 million euro of 'collateral expenses' of visitors in the Perugia and Umbria area. Great attention will also be paid to sustainability: 75% of waste materials will be recycled, at least 50% of the energy consumed will be produced from renewable sources, and rainwater will be used to irrigate the vegetation.
